Not a bit of it .....but you may prefer the result! Why do you have to wash polyester in a fabric softner after washing?
Sometimes they say not to use fabric softener because it can remove certain fabric treatments, like fire retardant or wrinkle-preventing treatments.
Before we were married, my husband used to use so much fabric softener on towels that they wouldn't absorb anything. :-)
I usually just use a dryer sheet or two and have no problems. Why do you have to wash polyester in a fabric softner after washing?
Who told you this? The only benefit I can think of would be to help eliminate static electricity??? If that's the case, a dryer sheet would work just as well. If you were to wash the polyester in just fabric softener, the material would have the tendency to attract more dirt and/or stains.
Could it be recommended because of the static cling problems with polyester? When I wash my polyester garments I do use a liquid fabric softener in the wash water and then use a fabric softener sheet in the dryer. I don't have problems with clinging when I do it that way.
If you don't like fabric softner you can add vinegar instead but there really no need for fabric softner. I have found that if you use extra dryer sheet like 4 to 6 of the clothes come out soft.
