get the dust off by using a dry paint brush (not sponge) or you can also use the upholstery attachment of your vacuum.......after that i take them to the bathtub, spray them with 409 and rinse ......let dry on a bath towel......then just maintain them using the first step......good luck!!Let me restate my question - how do you ';wash'; fabric lampshades?
If your fabric lampshades get dusty, remove them from the lamp, spread some newspapers out, get some cornmeal, a sponge paint brush(new-not used), with your hand rub the cornmeal over the lampshade and then let it set a few minutes, take your sponge paint brush and brush from top to bottom, you will see all sorts of dust and dirt come off!, the way the sponge brush is shaped, you can get into the small grooves. Corn meal also works great for kids stuffed toys! put some in plastic bag , throw in the toy and shake and brush!
If your shade is getting yellowed, or old looking, you can ';antique'; it by using a strong blend of tea bags, make it very strong, then just dip sponge brush in and brush lightly, let air dry. It will have a really unique antique look.Let me restate my question - how do you ';wash'; fabric lampshades?
The two things that I would try are baby wipes and/or magic erasers made by Mr Clean. I have used both on clothing, furniture and carpet. I would start with baby wipes and move on to the magic erasers if the baby wipes don't get it clean.
