I don't use fabric softener in the wash. I use the free and clear too. I just throw a bounce sheet in the dryer with her clothes. It makes them smell a little bit and it doesn't seem to bother her skin!!Do you use fabric softener when you wash newborn baby clothes?
just use dreft..its made for babies and leave the clothes smellin great!
JUST USEDREFT WHEN WASHING AND WHEN YOU DRY THEM USE FABRIC SOFTNER SHEETS, IT MAKES THEM SMELL PRETTY
I used Dreft for the first 6 months or so. I finally ran out of the big jugs that I got for gifts and then started using All-free and clear with no softener. I have never used softener, I know with Dreft you don't need to because it's softens and makes the clothes smell good by itself.

i use dreft only with out the sheets who cares if the cloths smell pretty there going to spit up on them anyways i went and bought the dryer balls they show on TV and they make my sons cloths soft and not stiff.
The clothes don't need to smell good. Keeping your baby clean and in clean clothes is all that is needed
I use the Free %26amp; Clear too for my hubby and son's sensitive skin.
i use baby sensetive detergent and i always use a little of our softner, like huggies or cuddly, u cant bring in the babies washing without that beautiful scent, its what gives babies that baby smell

Ryan's Mom is right - if they are clean, your beautiful baby's smell will come through. You just never know what is in all of those fabric softeners,and for things like towels and nappies, it actually stiffens the pile so they become rougher.
i never did cuz it made my son get hives and a rash. try washing one thing with your stuff first to see if there is a reaction
Dreft has a soft nice scent, and its recommended by Pedriaticians, I have been using Dreft for my daughter ever since she was born, and my stepdaughter has eczema and the Dreft is not bad for her.

I agree with LRC. Dreft has a pleasant soft scent. Ive always used it when washing my newborns clothes. After about a month ill test our regular stuff out by washing socks or wash clothes in with the rest of our laundry and letting baby wear them. None of my babies ever reacted negatively to our regular detergent when they were introduced. (Also if you decide not to use fab. softener on your babies clothes and continue to use unscented detergent you can always lather your baby up in baby lotion. I love Johnson %26amp; Johnson's bedtime lotion....they smell good enough to nibble on after that.)
I don't use any fabric softener on my son's clothes. It can reduce the flame retardant properties and can cause rashes. I have really sensitive skin, so he probablly will too. Just to add, my Dr. told me that at 3 months you can usually switch to regular detergent. Just wash like 2 or 3 of his things with yours, and check for a reaction before using it all the time.
My daughter stayed in the NICU for 10 days after birth and I asked the same question to my nurse. She said to use something that is dye and fragrance free, so I use Bounce free. Most loads I only use 1/2 a sheet unless it's a big load.
