Does fabric paint completely wash out if you don't iron it in?

I am making an outfit for fancy dress and I could do with painting on some clothes. I'd rather be able to wear the clothes again though, so was wondering if there is a way to remove all the paint effectively if you don't fix it on by ironing...? Or is it fairly permanent?Does fabric paint completely wash out if you don't iron it in?
Some of it will wash out if you don't let it set too long, but some of it won't. So, unfortunately, you're stuck with it. I would suggest getting something at a second-hand store to paint on. Or, you may be able to find something on a really good sale. If it comes out really well, but you know you won't ever wear it again, make a cardboard foDoes fabric paint completely wash out if you don't iron it in?
Whether you iron or not, it is permanent.
