i want to kind of simulate what happens in a washing machine but by hand, how should i do it?
also how could i keep the water tempriture consistant? What method should i use to wash fabric for my science project on enzymes in detergent?
Enzymes are used in cleaning products as cleaning and fabric agents.
Most of the used enzyme types breakdown large , water-insoluble soils and stains into smaller , more water-soluble pieces.
Some enzymes also deliver care benefits by e.g. maintaining whiteness or keeping colours bright.
Advantages :
1 ) a very small quantity of these inexhaustible bio-catalyst can replace very large quantity of man made chemicals
2) enzymes can work at very low temperature ( 40掳C )
3 ) they are fully biodegradable
Some enzymes are specialized to attak fat stains , others to attak food stains.
- Proteases breakdown a long protein into smaller chains calle peptides
- Amylases remove starch- based soils and stains e.g. sauces , ice creams. They breakdown starch chains into smaller sugar molecules
- Lipases are effective in removing oil/greasy body
. Cellulases provide general cleaning benefitsWhat method should i use to wash fabric for my science project on enzymes in detergent?
For hand washing, heat water( approx. temp 40 deg +/-), make two parts in two buckets , soak used cloths ( approx. equal dirty)
After 45min, wash the cloth and note observation.
In std. laboratories, we use specific cloth, and using international std procedure, we make the cloth dirty, make two parts by cutting, taking same size of cloths in two containers , wash with detergents which has to be compared using std. international procedure....
