  • How to get smells out of fabric in washing machine?

If my bf has been working particularly hard, his T-shirts are sometimes very musky, as are his sports clothes. I put them in the wash with that lovely Comfort stuff - it smells lovely on all our other clothes, but it doesn't get rid of the smell in these T shirts. I've tried pre-treating them, it just doesn't help. What can I do?How to get smells out of fabric in washing machine?
Baking Soda in the wash and good fabric softener.

If he has the type of sports shirts that are like nylon or the ones that are for wicking sweet from you skin they tend to smell. I think it has to do with the fabric. You may want to wash them separability so they do not make every thing smell in the dryer. How to get smells out of fabric in washing machine?
I have the same problem and I asked my grandmother what she does, but I haven't tried it yet.

BORAX has multiple different uses, one of them being a detergent. My grandmother just adds half a cup to the laundry on top of her other detergent. She says it gets any smells out.

The only picture I could find of the box is this one:

    http://images.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=ht鈥?/a>

(I hope that link works.. if not just google BORAX in images and it's a light green box with a little girl in the middle I think.

    Good Luck
Baking soda! 1 cup in the laundry when you put the soap in.

Buy the big box,it's good for so many things!
put them somewhere realy hot and dry but not a dryer
to be blunt buy him a big can of antiperspirant instead of his usual deodorant as one stops sweat and the other just hides the smell with a stronger one.
I would add about a cup or two of white vinegar to the wash water. It does miracles!
I use Simply Sensitive Eco Smart Washing Tablets. They come in a green and white tub, they are eco friendly too! I bought them from the Co-Op store a few months back as they were on special offer lol and I have used them ever since, they even get the sweaty smell off my 15 year old sons socks and that is no mean feat (feet lol) Both he and my partner have even said theeir clothes smell good!!!!!

Give it a try, the bonus is that there is a 50p off next purchase in packs at the minute too!!
hmm there was a girl on here a few days ago that says she washed with shampoo's and conditioners... try adding your favorite fragrance in the mix.. lol
Try adding lavender oil. I have used it for the same problems (it also gets rid of mold smells from the washing machine).

Does anyone know how to get a funky smell out of a new washed fabric?

I just bought a pair of pants from a catalog, and I am pissed! They smell like moth balls. Sometimes when I am in Chinatown or other Asian places, sometimes around Asian people I smell it too. ( I guess I should not stand so close huh?) hehe. Any advice other than washing the hell out of them over and over what can I do? Will it go away?????Does anyone know how to get a funky smell out of a new washed fabric?
add vinegar to your load in the washer.Does anyone know how to get a funky smell out of a new washed fabric?
I feel funny telling you a whole lot of different stuff you could ';try'; but I don't know for sure and I wouldn't want you to then have 2 ugly smells. Me, I'd probably soak it in white vinegar, or soak it and wash it in woolite and then air it outside or in your bathroom for a few days (if it takes that much time). I have no idea if fabreez would work. If it were white I'd probably be washing it in tide and a tad of bleach. But you can always call the dry cleaners and ask.
I would put them in a plasic bag along with a nice smellig dryer sheet, leaver them set for a day ot two. Should smell great when your remove them.
Try Fabreeze in addition to a washing detergent with an odor fighter. Also, dryer sheets when you dry it. You shouldn't have to wash it too many times. Also, you might want to contact the catalog people.
    fabric softner maybe?
it definitely should go away eventually, i wouldn't suggest washing them over and over cause that will just wear them out before you even get to wear them!!

try soaking them in warm water and washing powder over night, then put them on a quick wash in your washing machine, that should at least get rid of most of the smell without wearing them out!!

    good luck!!

What happens if I don't pre-wash a shirt before I put fabric paint on it?

my daughter and I are making a shirt for her dad for father's day and due to the lack of time and no wash machine at our home I'm just wondering if it's ok not to pre-wash the shirt before we put fabric paint on the shirt. (the instructions say to prewash shirt before applying any paint, but doesn't say why)What happens if I don't pre-wash a shirt before I put fabric paint on it?
The paint may not stick to the shirt because of the sizing and stuff put on new garments at the factory. The paint COULD wash off when washing. What happens if I don't pre-wash a shirt before I put fabric paint on it?
They put sizing on the clothes and it may prevent your paint from sticking properly!
Nothing, I have made plenty shirts and I have never washed them.
I think it would be okay

    How to wash Viscose fabric?

Viscose is a close cousin to rayon. Hand wash it, very delicately, rinse it a lot and add some softener to the final rinse. Do not wring, twist or pull on it. It will rip. To dry it, rroll it up in a terry towel and let the towel take the water. Hand to dry and lightly (very lightly) pull on the seams to give it its shape back. It will feel stiff and harsh but as it dries, it will get softer. It helps to put it in the dryer for the last 15 minutes after air drying till almost dry. Iron on medium with steam.

    IGNORE OTHER ANSWERS!

Fabric painted shirts can look as good if not better than shop bought as long as you plan well, take your time and follow the manufacturers instructions. I suggest you do trial pieces on the same sort of material as the shirt 1st though.

Hope this helps.IS fabric paint suitable for making shirts?will it spread or fade when you wash the shirt?
It will work, but no it will not look professional. It will still look home-made. If you want a professional looking shirt you will need to have it screen printed.

If you need more information on screen printing email me. I took screen printing classes in college. GOOD LUCK!
no......i have one shirt dat i made myself
Just be sure to follow the instruction for setting the paint, some paints need to be heat set, some paints don't. I know many artists who paint t-shirts and other clothing and their pieces last for a good long time. If you want your lettering to be as professional as possible, you might want to use a stencil to lightly trace the letters onto the shirt with pencil first and then fill them in. For a picture, draw it on paper, then poke little holes in the paper along the outline and use a light pencil, dots of the paint colour you are using, or one of those fade away tailor's markers in order to get the best and most professional results. Good luck!

  • Can I hand wash acetate fabric?

I have a Halloween costume that I am borrowing. It was really wrinkled so I tried steaming it with my steamer. It was shooting out hot water so it made some spots on the pink fabric of acetate. it says dry clean only, does anyone know if I can just wash it with cold water and no detergent to get the white water spots out?Can I hand wash acetate fabric?
No, don't use water at all. You will ruin the material.

Acetate really does need drycleaning, though you don't have to send it to a professional drycleaners. There are several very good do-it-yourself dry cleaning alternative products available in the grocery store detergent aisle. Dryel is the most popular, and works very very well in your dryer. It comes with spot cleaning pads to clean up blotches as well as complete instructions.

The trick with using a home drycleaning kit is to remove the garment from the tumbling bag immediately and shake it out to prevent wrinkling.

    How to wash modal fabric?

i have a juicy couture top made of 100% modal. i was just going to wash it in a lingerie bag on cold/delicate than hang it dry but could this cause it to tear? How to wash modal fabric?
I've ruined enough pieces to know - wash it lovingly by hand in the sink.

Don't leave it soaking, do it quickly, rinse , squeeze dry, no twisting. Should you hang it or spread it on a big towel to dry? It's your call; you don't want it to hang down to your knees.

Do you pre-wash fabric before you begin quilting?

I'm pretty new at this. I'm making a log-cabin-ish quilt for my nephew. I'm worried that if I pre-wash the fabric might be harder to work with. I'll be doing it all by hand.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

FYI: here's the quilt I'm making:

http://www.fatquartershop.com/Free-Quilt鈥?/a>Do you pre-wash fabric before you begin quilting?
This question has long been discussed among quilters. My answer is it depends--If I use all fabrics from the quilt shop (better fabrics) and they are all from the same maunfacturer or grouping, I probably won't because I feel they are somewhat consistent. That said, there is always the chance of a bleed...I can double check that by snipping a small piece of the selvage off, a quick drench of hot/warm water and a lie on a white paper towel to dry. When I lift the snip, I check for a stain. No stain, no worry. If there is a stain, I will probably wash the fabric in the same manner I will wash the quilt-ie: cold water...I wash the fabric in my regular wash with like colors. I, on the other hand, dry it until it is dry, and spritz with water to iron smooth. I like to be sure there is no more shrink left.

If the fabric is from different sources/manufacturers or on the inexpensive side, I will always wash the fabric to eliminate any surprise.

This can be a difficult choice, especially if you are working with a kit. Any shrinkage may cause the need for more fabric.

I must say, on the whole, and I like to use better quilt cottons, I have had very good luck!

Fat quarter, the same rule applies.

A quick rule of thumb: if you hold the fabric up to the light and you can see the space between the threads...it will shrink more. Where the light is is where the shrink will be!

As for sizing/starch...if you fabric is limp after washing, use any starch method you like. Sometimes a little body is good, sometimes limp fabric is nice. You decide!

Personally, for your log Cabin, the extra body will make it easier to hand sew.

Keep in mind, though, that sometimes it is nice to wash the quilt after you sew/quilt it. The fabric will pucker slightly, giving your quilt and older and softer feel. If the quilt will be laundered a lot, like a crib quilt, I would wash everything before hand.

I would also make sure you wash your YARDAGES, not your cut strips or pieces...and plan on a little bit more fabric, especially if you don't intend on making the project right away, just so you know you have enough. The extra allowance will depend on the shrink ratio:the longer the yardage, the more shrink there will be.

Quilting is all about making descisions, but also about having fun! You can always make do and any mistake is a learning experience!

Good Luck and happy quilting!Do you pre-wash fabric before you begin quilting?
Depends. Stiffer unwashed fabric doesn't fray as much and can be easier to handle if you applique, if that's a consideration. But washed fabric enables you to find out if any of your fabrics bleed (what a way to spoil a quilt!). Unwashed fabric will pucker up more when washed, giving you a nice vintage look. Washed will shrink a little, too. Most important to remember: If you prewash, prewash every fabric, including backing, so it shrinks evenly. Any good quilting book (or internet site) will give you more than you need to know on the subject. I almost always preshrink. I do it by putting the fabric in a laundry bag, or pillowcase so it doesn't fray too much, sudz it by hand, rinse it gently and then dry in the dryer. I keep smaller pieces like fat quarters in the bag, but bigger ones I ';turn loose';. Take out while damp, and iron. Good luck on your quilt!
I always prewash, but then starch and press the fabric before cutting.

    Homemade starch solution:

2 Tbsp starch mixed with 1 cup *cold* water till the starch is lump free.

Stir gradually into 3 cups boiling water, and the starch solution will cook and go from white to almost clear. Allow to cool. Makes 1 quart.

Dip damp fabric into the starch solution and then squeeze out as much of the starch solution as possible. Dry till almost dry, and then press the fabric.

This process preshrinks your fabric and gets out any bleeding dyes, then replaces the sizing in the original fabric with starch, which helps stabilize the fabric for cutting and sewing.
I always pre wash fabric for preshrinking and because of certain colors bleeding.

Don't use dryer sheets with it, also you can use starch when you Iron the fabric to make it easier to handle.

I have learned this from trial and error, I had a quilt to shrink when I washed it from not washing the fabric first.
Cute quilt! I'm sure your nephew will love it.

I like to pre-wash fabric to get the sizing out and make sure I have true grain; I think it makes the fabric easier to work with. If you are stitching the pieces by hand, you might try waxing your thread; that should make stitching easier.
I have never prewashed. That sizing makes the fabric easier to handle or you will need to put some spray starch back on it if you wash the fabric. I take a little swatch of each fabric and put it in a bolw of warm water to see of the color bleeds, if not I go to work cutting.
    It's a toss up.

I like to gently wash on a short cycle just because I have no idea where the fabric has been or who has handled it before I bought it.

Dry to just damp. Press with iron.

    Sock Monkeys - love it!
I always pre-wash my fabric. If you would like more information about quilting, including great quilts for kids, go to http://www.appliquequiltdesigns.com
IF it is for a child it is going to washed a lot. I would pre wash it before you sew it.
It is advisable. Also wash each one seperate in case one bleeds die so as wont ruin whole load.

No, it will leave an oily residue on your shoes I will tell you what other cleaner you can use to clean your shoes

    Clean shoes.

Simply wipe the shoes with a baby wipe.

Or you can simply wash in Baby shampoo add about quarter of a cup to the washer and wash on delicate warm wash only, you can also add about quarter cup of White Vinegar to the machine this will increase the power of the baby shampoo and make the shoes whiter/brighter, do not add any fabric softner as vinegar will soften and is alot less expensive than fabric softner Good Luck !

Depends on the hardness of the water. Very hard water will take more than soft water. You'll need to experiment to find what works for you.

For me, it's about 1/4 cup per large load.
just use the lid from the bottle where it come in and add a full cap of water to it inside the dispenser, this will help dissolve it better and also keep the dispenser free from built up gunk
I use 1/2 cup in the rinse cycle. I only use 3/4 cup if I'm washing a load of towels

When fabric softener gets into the wash cycle accidentally, does the detergent still clean the clothes?

Not if the detergent you used was an anionic detergent.., when anionic detergents and fabric softeners (cationic detergents) get together, it forms a waxy goo that deposits in the clothes and attracts more dirt. The reaction is called ';reverse saponification';.

If you used a non-ionic detergent, you're fine.

Is it better to wash (handwash cycle!) 100% silk with or without fabric softener?

I have had problems with using fabric softeners with silk. The type you throw in the dryer has left oily stains on my silk, so I no longer use that type. I usually add about a half cup of vinegar in the washer during the rinse cycle which sets the dye and keeps it from bleeding as well as acting as a fabric softener without leaving any residue. I usually dry silk in the dryer on a rack and use the air dry setting so it doesn't shrink. Is it better to wash (handwash cycle!) 100% silk with or without fabric softener?

You can try Hydrogen peroxide. I've used it to get hair dye out of fabrics and even black tattoo ink out of a cream colored shirt. Just pour a little on and rub it out. It works wonders.
Blot it with alcohol. I use white paper towels and blot with a little alcohol being careful to not blot again with the stained part of the paper towel.
Use a q-tip for more precission in your application of rubbing alcohol, use plenty of them too. As one becomes saturated, discard and use new one. Apply dampened tip to the mark, and let the tip suck out the stain, rather than rub it. Be patient, do not try to hurry this.

Also, if this magic marker is permanent...I should say, NEVER leave one in childs reach again! LOL.
try vinigar, good luck have you trid shout it out or tide spot remover?

i ran out of black acrylic color so now i'm considering using oil color instead. does that work or will it wash out after washing the fabric??Will oil color on fabric wash out?
Don't use oil paint on fabric.

You have to prime it otherwise the oil just spreads everwhere, and priming means the fabric goes all hard.

And you have to thin oil paint, which means it goes a bit weird and shiny. Normally stays sticky after its dried too.

It doesn't wash out, but white spirit will normally get alot of it off.

I did some oil paintings fairly recently on patterened fabric. Came up with sooo many problems.

Also the fluff tends to stick up, and dry looking strange and bumpy.

  • How to Wash Linen Fabric?

Does ';linen'; fabric shrink when washed? For example: when you wash a linen blouse in the washing machine. Or how should you wash it? Or is it necessary to size up?

    Thank you-

    ESHow to Wash Linen Fabric?
Linen does shrink when washed... if you're buying ready to wear, hope that the fabric was preshrunk before construction. Typical shrinkages range from 1-10%.

    http://www.fashion-incubator.com/archive鈥?/a>

Linen does not exhibit progressive shrinkage (where it shrinks some more every time it's washed, like some rayons), but it does indeed shrink. Most of us who sew at home will prewash and machine dry linen at least 3 times before cutting.

There's also ';linen'; -- linen (flax) is really a fiber, but there are a lot of slightly slubby weave fabrics that get (miscalled) linen.... the actual fiber may be polyester, rayon, cotton, hemp.... some mixture of stuff. If the fabric is 100% polyester, you don't need to worry about shrinkage. The others will shrink, some more, some less. How to Wash Linen Fabric?
I usually wash any linen garments in very cold water - ivory liquid soap ( very mild) and lay it on a flat surface to air dry. I never, never, put it in the washing machine or dryer. Linen is a lovely fabric but it needs ironing after each time it is laundered. i have sensitive skin and can only wear linen and 100 % cotton clothes. Linen is an old and natural fabric but it needs special care.

    good luck.
I throw all my linen into the washing machine. WARM only, and perm press in the dryer.

No need to up size. If you follow the directions on the tag the blouse won't shrink.

Sure you can...wash it in cold water in the delicate cycle. Tumble dry on the lowest setting. How do I wash this fabric?? (couch)?
It has been my experience that anything with stuffing inside of it (cushions, pillows, stuffed animals and even comforters) get kinda lumpy in the wash. If I were you I would see about renting one of those steam cleaners and the upholstery attachment. That will clean the whole couch! After that, hose it down with Febreeze fabric refresher and it will look and smell great!!!!!!!!
I wash my pillow covers in cold water %26amp; tumble dry in the dryer on air dry, it is a no heat setting. Not for the couch cushions though.

They do make upolstery cleaners and you can rent a steam cleaner.

Don't forget, if you do clean them, any stain repellant that was applied either by the manufacturer or after-market will be gone.
I would be worry about getting the covers back over the cushion's, after drying because they will shrink. Try to find good fabric cleaner, and clean without removing. Here is what I use on carper and couch. I use Lysol tub and tile cleaner, spray on wipe off. It will leave white foam when you spray on, wipe off with old towel. I have never had this to stain any thing. Do small test spot to be sure. The Lysol will sanitize and clean.

    Good Luck
I would be leery of placing them in the washer as they may shrink up o you. I use the upholstery attachment on a cleaning machine OR just my Little Mean Green Machine for little jobs to save time. Works great and can be stored on the closet shelf with the solution in it.

Woolite is fine. Using fabric softener in the rinse, though not required, will help return the softeness to the fabric and elliminate static cling. Is it better to wash (handwash cycle!) 100% silk with or without fabric softener?
    Hi,

I accidently threw my new silk blouse in the washer at warm, then into the dryer. It came out wonderful and soft. I did not use softener. It didn't shrink either.
woolite wood work but i do not think you need fabric softner i think the silk is soft enough if your worried about static cling toss in the dryer at air dry with a dryer sheet.your blouse will come out beautyful.

Any way to wash magic marker out of a chair fabric? :-(?

My daughter colored on her little chair with marker, I can't remove the cover, how can I wash it? Will it come out?Any way to wash magic marker out of a chair fabric? :-(?
I've used WD~40, on such, worked for me. It's a lubricant.Any way to wash magic marker out of a chair fabric? :-(?

  • Will oil color on fabric wash out?

i ran out of black acrylic color so now i'm considering using oil color instead. does that work or will it wash out after washing the fabric??Will oil color on fabric wash out?
Don't use oil paint on fabric.

You have to prime it otherwise the oil just spreads everwhere, and priming means the fabric goes all hard.

And you have to thin oil paint, which means it goes a bit weird and shiny. Normally stays sticky after its dried too.

It doesn't wash out, but white spirit will normally get alot of it off.

I did some oil paintings fairly recently on patterened fabric. Came up with sooo many problems.

Also the fluff tends to stick up, and dry looking strange and bumpy.

If you're doing t-shirts or something its best to stick to fabric paint, its not that expensive. But acrylic is useable. Will oil color on fabric wash out?
don't use oil paint ,it will be gummy and sticky and then hard, go with the acrylic ,it is plastic and Flexible
Eek, don`t use oil paint on fabric.
do not use oil paint on fabric.

    How to Wash Linen Fabric?

    PS, get out your iron

100 % Cotton shrinks in the wash, use hot water ...

Pre - shrink it if you are going to sew something.

As a kid I used to sew all my own clothes...bought the material with my babysitting money.

It was a different era than now. What fabric shrinks in the wash?
why do you want to shrink a fabric? buy the size you want at the time and it will look much better.
100% cotton always shrinks. You can not dry the item and that will help it not to shrink
100% cotton as well as wool.

How do I get red fabric to stop bleeding in the wash?

My husband has been using red shop towels for *several* months now, and they all get washed together on a regular basis. But sometimes one will end up with the other laundry, and turn things bright pink! What can I do to stop them from bleeding? How do I get red fabric to stop bleeding in the wash?
Wash them in warm water and 2/3 cup of table salt. If you can, stop the washing machine before it drains the first time and let the rags soak for about 20-30 minutes. Let the load fininsh out and then wash them with regular detergent (also in warm water) to get the salt out of the rags and your washing machine. Good luck! How do I get red fabric to stop bleeding in the wash?
Cold water and lots of salt.. I never had to do it. I usually just wash or dark blues reds seperately . But I heard it does work ..I think I read it in a magazine and my mom does it..she uses at least a cup of table salt I think. Good luck!
1 cup of vinegar to 2 gallons of water and let it soak overnight. Wash normally afterwards and the bleeding should stop.
Add some vinegar to the rinse water-it sets the color.

Is it better to use paper towels (uses paper), or fabric cloths (uses water and energy to wash)?

I was thinking about how people always say to use fabric cloths/towels because it doesn't waste paper, but doesn't it use a lot of water and energy to wash those towels? So which is more efficient? Is it better to use paper towels (uses paper), or fabric cloths (uses water and energy to wash)?
I've debated this too and come up with the fact that it is cheaper and better for the environment to use cloth. I used to buy tons of paper towels and used them very frequently. Now I use cloth and I save money because I'm not wasting it on something that is going to be thrown away anyway. Not to mention that it will take up a little room in a landfill and add to garbage. It won't take as much water because just throw the fabric cloths in with the rest of the laundry, like when you wash your towels, and you have to wash and dry stuff anyway, so why not just use cloth because in the long run it's much cheaper. Add up how much you spend on paper towels in a year and then you'll see you can save some money and use that money to spend on something else you really need.Is it better to use paper towels (uses paper), or fabric cloths (uses water and energy to wash)?
Not really ,no. Because fabric cloths absorb lots of water, clean more and are reusable. Papertowels are truly a waste for washing dishes as you have to use a new one several times a day. You can keep a fabric cloth for weeks! And months!
Use fabric cloths and wash like they used to when washing machines weren't invented (by hand) and hang to dry...all your using is water and your own hard work
Fabric cloths are better, although you must use paper towels to dry your hands if preparing food.
fabric clothes are better unless you burn the paper towels after use so they dont go into a land fill
Depend on area self ideas etc

I need an answer before tuesday. please!!!! desrately desprateI need to get KISS wrappers onto a fabric, how? Can I varnish the wrappers on the fabric to protect from wash?
Scan them to your computer then print them on Iron on paper. You can find the paper at any craft storeI need to get KISS wrappers onto a fabric, how? Can I varnish the wrappers on the fabric to protect from wash?
Yikes, you asked this so many times, I don;t see how you will keep track of all the answers. Scan your wrappers and print them onto fabric, using printer fabric from the craft store.
take your wrappers to a good copy shop and they will help you align them on a special paper that you can cut them out and iron them on your material with no steam. I have done this with pitures and lots of things.

Do i REALLY have to wash garments before i FABRIC PAINT them?

im a playgroup leader and next weeks activity ive organised the kids to make fabric painted t shirts!, theyr already labelled and on hangers, but i know it says you have to pre wash fabric before you paint it,

im going to paint each kids name on them before they paint them, but i really cant b bothered to wash them first, as ive only got 2 days before we go to playgroup.

they are plain white tshirts, if we paint them before theyv ever been washed will the paint wash off or peel?

thanksDo i REALLY have to wash garments before i FABRIC PAINT them?
Did you know that they told on the news a few weeks ago that any garment that was from out of the USA which is most everything now, needed to be washed before we wore it.

I would have never believed this but I seen it with my own eyes. This lady got a Bra and didn't wash it before she wore it, and they said that the box the bra's came in had some kind of larvae that had embedded in the fabric and they showed a picture of her Breast and she had little holes in and around her nipples where the worms had started to crawl in. She said she took the bra off the first night before she took a bath and then put it back on the next day and she felt her Breast itching and then she went to the doctor and he found the eggs laid in tiny holes in her Breast. They said men could get them in their woohoo's if they didn't wash their draws first. I guess they could go in ours to. I know it sounds crazy but it was on the Nightly News. The lady has to have reconstructive surgery too! I'm a Crazy washing woman now. I wash everything first since seeing this.Do i REALLY have to wash garments before i FABRIC PAINT them?
It depends on the use of the garment.

If you are only going to wear it once and never want to wash and wear the item again then no, you do not have to wash it first.

New clothes come coated with a type of film that keeps them from being stained before they are washed - which also keeps fabric paint from penetrating the fibers.

I have done several ';holiday'; t-shirts for my daughter to wear for a day and wear as a night shirt , bathing suit cover-up or throw away afterwards.

Another way around this is to go to a ';Salvation Army'; or ';Goodwill'; second hand store where all the clothes are almost all already washed.

    Good Luck and happy painting.
Garments tend to have starch or sizing to keep them looking fresh for sale, and a one time wash ensures that the items won't go wonky the first time they're washed (shrinkage, etc.) if you don't. If you're going to have the kids go to the trouble to paint shirts, don't take the chance they'll be damaged the first time they're washed just because you don't want to do a load of t-shirts!
Yes yes, always !!! Make sure you also don't use any fabric softener. These are the Golden rules of fabric painting.
It's not about peeling. It's about shrinkage.

If the clothing is shrinkable (cotton, cotton blend) then you DEFINITELY want to wash %26amp; dry prehand. Otherwise the kids are going to take home their masterpieces, and their mom's will wash the garment and it'll shrink, causing the image/design to be slightly distorted.
Yes U need to wash them first. If U do not wash them first your fun project will not come out right. The paint will not last or will run making a mess not a nice look.
    yup.....need to do it

I have an Hotpoint Aquarius Washer. The fabric conditioner will not go through into the wash. Can anyone help?

I have cleaned the drawer loads of times, but this does not help.I have an Hotpoint Aquarius Washer. The fabric conditioner will not go through into the wash. Can anyone help?
Remove and wash the detergent tray in hot soapy water. While the tray is out look at the top of the tray housing on the washing machine, you will see a set of small holes where the water is added to the conditioner, these holes sometime become blocked. You can use a small nail brush to scrub these holes or if that doesn't work use a thick (darning) needle.

Hope this helps.I have an Hotpoint Aquarius Washer. The fabric conditioner will not go through into the wash. Can anyone help?
I have found this from a Hotpoint site for you, I have also pasted the link in for you in the source section, if you need any further help with your washing machine.

Failure of your Hotpoint Washing Machine to remove the fabric conditioner from the appropriate section of the dispenser is usually due to a blockage within the detergent dispenser itself.

Remove the conditioner compartment, clean dispenser draw and housing in hot soapy water to remove any blockages and re try the wash process. Also some concentrated conditioners need to be diluted by mixing them with water prior to the start of the programme. Finally check that the feet are level and the Hotpoint WAshing Machine is not too low on the front as this could prevent the fabric conditioner being rinsed away.

I pour hot water in mine now and again and wash the drawer out regularly. do a few washes without anything in the drawer (use tablets instead) to give it chance to clear.
Try adding water to the conditioner when you put it in the drawer

It happened to me and that's what I done and it all goes through :)
Maybe you have a blocked tube , take the top off , checkthe tube,s
The tube might be blocked or you have it on the wrong programme

I bought a washable suede jacket. It says to wash with Woolite but do I use fabric softener?

No. It will weight the fibers so they would not stand up as they are suppose to. A light brushing with a finger nail brush will revive the fibers of the cleaned jacket, too.I bought a washable suede jacket. It says to wash with Woolite but do I use fabric softener?

Fabric softner, when should I put it in the wash?

Do I just put it in the wash machine along with detergent at the start of a cycle? (Im a single guy not familiar with household stuff, Im in training)Fabric softner, when should I put it in the wash?
rinse cycle right when it starts to fill with water on the rinse cycle just pour a cap full in there and thats itFabric softner, when should I put it in the wash?
No, you put it in during the rinse cycle. Most newer washers have a reservoir in the center of the agitator just for liquid fabric softener, and if yours does then you fill it at the start of the wash cycle the same time as the detergent.

When all else fails go get some bounce dryer sheets and throw a couple in the dryer with every load.

Don't forget to clean the lint trap in the dryer after every load, huge fire hazard if you don't!!!

    Good luck...
Rinse cycle or just buy a downey ball pour it in %26amp; stick it the washing machine %26amp; then you won't have to worry about it as it will open itself during the rinse cycle.
